Nomads vice-chair steps down

Gift Mkandawire has stepped down as Mighty Wanderers vice-chairperson following his appointment into Sulom executive committee as an executive member.

This means the positions of both first and second vice-chairpersons at Wanderers are vacant as Francis Shaba resigned as second vice-chairperson last month.

Nomads chairperson George Chamangwana said the executive committee will meet soon to see what to do with the vacant positions.

“Definitely there is need for the executive committee to meet and agree on how we are going to fill the positions,” said Chamangwana.

Mkandawire, who was initially eyeing the Sulom vice-presidency, confirmed relinquishing his position at Nomads.

“With my appointment, it means I cannot continue to serve in the executive committee of a club,” he said.

Mkandawire alongside former Big Bullets general secretary Willie Phalula were appointed into the Sulom executive during the annual general meeting held in Lilongwe on Sunday. Dan Kuwali is now the vice-president.
