Mighty Wanderers FC are unable to use their 26-seater Toyota Coaster as they are yet to raise K3 million to have it cleared and registered with relevant authorities four months after they bought it.

The Nomads’ general secretary Mike Butao yesterday confirmed that the bus they bought at K7 million is grounded at a clearing agency, Safari Freight, in Blantyre.

“We cannot use the bus because we have not cleared and registered it and is with Safari Freight because we do not have the money now.

“But we are making arrangements to get a loan and have it cleared so that in the next fortnight it should be on the road,” said Butao.

The Nomads bought the bus in June this year and used it temporarily bearing an embossed ‘Mighty 1’ personalised number plate, but it disappeared on the road following revelations that the Department of Road Traffic and Safety Services was investigating how it had an embossed number plate before being registered.

The Nomads used part of the K25 million donation from former president Joyce Banda to buy the coaster.
