In trying to contribute towards the development of the arts in Malawi, Nation Publications Limited (NPL) has partnered with Africa Film Academy and other local sponsors in bringing Nigeria hip hop star Innocent Ujah Idibia aka 2 Face in the country for a live performance scheduled for BAT ground in Blantyre on July 13.

Announcing the agreement with the organisers, NPL business development manager Chigomezgo Gondwe said the decision to contribute to the show is in line with the company’s programme to contribute to community activities.

2Face is on a multi-country tour of Africa, the first stop being Malawi and then he will move on to Zambia, Mozambique, Angola and concludes with Kenya.

Gondwe said NPL knows that 2Face is liked by many people in the country and some of them are its customers. She added that her office has come in to improve the hype for the show.

“We thank our customers in different ways. We know everyone in one way or other benefits from our products and through their various roles in our products promote us. We believe our hand on the show will benefit many people in one way or another,” said Gondwe.

She said NPL’s direct support to its readers on the show is in on the gate fee.

“There is a 2Face show coupon which will be published in all our newspapers. Our customers interested to patronise the show are encouraged to cut the coupon and take it to the show’s ticket sellers. They will buy the K5 000 [about $13] ticket at a reduced fee of K3 000 [$7.50],” said Gondwe, adding that NPL believes many people can afford patronising the show at that fee.

Meanwhile, Gondwe has said only tickets bought using coupons which are available in NPL products will be bought at a reduced fee of K3 000, otherwise all tickets remain at K5 000 and K10 000 [$25] for the VIP tickets.

Dubbed the Live concert Africa one Sadc tour, the Nigerian artist will share the stage with local artists Maskal, Blasto, Trumel, Dikamawoko, Agorosso, Hazel Mak, Dj Maya, Dj Malick and Mr C.
