Northern Region Water Board (NRWB) on Monday donated K1.5 million to Beautify Malawi (Beam) Trust for the education of the girl child.
Speaking after receiving the cheque at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe, Beam Trust patron First Lady Gertrude Mutharika said she was happy to see organisations such as NRWB embracing the Trust’s dream.
“Our dream is to have more educated girls and that can only be fulfilled with support from various organisations. Let me commend NRWB for the financial support,” she said.
NRWB chief executive officer Titus Mtegha said there is need for right resources such as human and infrastructure capital, but, most importantly, the sustainable water sources.
“We realised that we could not do everything on our own. We need support and collaboration from various partners. We noted that Beam Trust and us desire and cherish same values for a cleaner and heathier Malawi, especially through the management and protection of our water catchment areas,” he said.
Among the sanitation equipment donated include 30 shovels, 50 rakes, 30 wheelbarrows and 30 trash bins. n
