The Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) has reportedly received the nod from Nsejjere Casual Wear and Sports for K10 million sponsorship extension this season.

Nsejjere local representative Jacob Chikoya could not be reached, but SFRA chairperson Raphael Humba confirmed yesterday.

“To this effect, the league starts this Sunday in Zomba with a game between Cobbe Barracks and Zomba United. We submitted a budget of K18 million which included sponsorship for division one, but Nsejjere only gave us the green light to K10 million. They have also given us the nod to seek a co-sponsor for division one,” he said.

Humba added that the actual signing ceremony and breakdown of prizes will be known once they officially sign the sponsorship extension.

He added that they are proceeding even in the absence of a signed contract, to catch up with the harmonised FAM calendar.

Nsejjere came to the rescue of the country’s oldest football league late last season with a four-month deal that expired at the end of the 2014/15 campaign in March.

The last sponsorship included providing then premier division champions Surestream FC sets of merchandise for re-sell.
