Ntcheu Police Station deputy spokesperson Andrew Kamanga identified the three as Wedson January, 41, Jackson Kathumba, 34, and Billy Ng’ambani, 29.

He quoted State prosecutor Evance Kantukule as having told the court that the incident happened on the night of November 16 and 17 last year at Senzani Trading Centre in the district where the three broke into the house of Sergeant Balekani Nyondo of Senzani Police Unit.

They stole from police officers’s houses

Kamanga said the three stole items, including, two mobile phones, one DVD player and one mountain bicycle valued at K250 000.

The court learnt the three also stole a plasma television screen and a subwoofer valued at K390 000 from Levison Banda’s house between February 28 to March 1 2018. Levison Banda works at Senzani police unit.

“Theft and burglary are on the rise and we want to stop that. Communities should not be terrorised by such people,” Kantukule said.
