Ntcheu District Initiative, a group of people from the district, has donated three oxygen concentrators to Ntcheu District Hospital.

In an interview, the group’s representative Kingsley Gwaza said they wanted to support the hospital’s efforts in fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We want to save the lives of people from the disease. So, we mobilised K4.1 million to buy the concentrators,” he said.

Concentrators like this are in high demand in hospitals

Gwaza also said that last year they donated K2.6 million to rehabilitate the maternity ward and repair the plumbing system at the hospital.

In a separate interview, Ntcheu District director of health and social services Stephen Macheso said they have limited resources to effectively fight the pandemic.

“These concentrators will go a long way in saving people’s lives in the district,” he said.

Paramount Chief Gomani V commended the group, whose membership comprises people within Malawi and abroad, for the timely donation. He has since asked his subjects to observe Covid-19 preventive measures
