Police in Ntchisi have arrested Eniwelo Kagomba, 17, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle worth K295 000, belonging to Kayala Mthunzi of Kapichira Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Malenga in the district.

Ntchisi Police Station spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha said the incident happened on Saturday at Ntchisi Trading Centre.

Said M’bumpha: “Mthuzi went to Ntchisi Trading Centre using his unregistered Ricco motorcycle on Saturday afternoon and parked it at a visible place. He then joined a friend in a vehicle where they started drinking alcohol.

“The suspect thought the motorcycle was unattended; hence, he stole it.”

M’bumpha added that Mthunzi quickly realised his motor cycle was missing and started searching for it. He later saw the suspect pushing the motorcycle.

He said: “Luckily, the complainant saw a police foot patrol team and shouted for help. The police patrol team arrested the suspect and recovered the motorcycle.”

He said the suspect comes from Malenga Village, T/A Malenga in Ntchisi and will appear in court soon to answer charges of theft of a motorcycle
