Ntchisi man in for defilement
Police in Ntchisi are keeping in custody a 38-year-old security guard following allegations that he defiled an 11-year-old girl on March 27 2013. According to Ntchisi Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha, the suspect, Saukani Misi from Chimwankhuku Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Malenga in the district, is suspected to have committed the crime around 6pm at the premises of a bank he was guarding on the said date.
The victim was referred to Ntchisi District Hospital where she underwent a medical examination.—MERCY MALIKWA
One killed in motorbike accident
A 28-year-old woman died on Wednesday in Mwanza after being hit by a motorbike as she was attempting to cross the road. Mwanza Police spokesperson Victoria Chirwa told the Malawi News Agency (Mana) on Thursday that a motorbike which was driven by George Dominic hit Anne Kennedy at 7am at Baghdad Turnoff where she sustained internal injuries. She said the motorbike was heading towards Mwanza Border.—Malawi News Agency
