Ntchisi man killed in hit and run accident

A 30-year-old man in Ntchisi has died after a motorbike hit him last Wednesday night.

Ntchisi Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha said the deceased Nelson Masulani of Mphalabungu Village in the area T/A Chilooko in Ntchisi was hit at Nine Miles along Ntchisi to Malomo earth road. HIT-AND-RUN-2_accident

M’bumpha added that Masulani was killed in a hit and run incident but the cyclist was later arrested.

“The motorcyclist was riding from Ntchisi towards Malomo direction and upon arrival at Nine Miles he hit a male pedestrian who died on the spot due to head injuries but the rider did not stop.
However, the rider of the motor cycle have been identified as Kondwani Mbewe, he was riding unregistered Nifo motor cycle and he is in custody for causing death by reckless driving contrary to section 121 of Road Traffic Act,” M’bumpha said.

Mbewe 25, hails from Genesis Village of T/A Chilooko in Ntchisi.
