Ntchisi Zokonda Amayi group donate desks to school

Ntchisi 2 Zokonda Amayi women’s group on Monday donated 10 desks to Madanjala Primary School in Traditional Authority Malenga in the district.

The grouping’s treasurer Mayamiko Maulana said they made the donation after learning that the school did not have a single desk and learners had to carry chairs from their homes to sit on during examinations.

“We raised some funds after doing small-scale businesses and managed to buy these desks so that the learners can comfortably write their exams,” she said.

The head teacher, Macdonald Kaulimbo, said he was grateful for the donation which would go a long way in improving education standards at the school which has 791 pupils.

The school’s mother group chairperson Filesi Mpumulo said the absence of desks has been making learning difficult for pupils, especially girls who normally have problems whenever they want to stand up. The Zokonda Amayi group comprises radio listening members of Zokonda Amayi show on public broadcaster Malawi Broadcasting Corporation who also economically empower each other.
