Nthala: I had no witness

Deposed Flames first-choice goalkeeper Simplex Nthala has signed a two-year contract for Mozambique top side Maxaquene after severing ties with Liga Maculmana.

Nthala signed the contract on Thursday, which had Maxaquene agreeing to inherit contractual obligations which Maculmana had on the Malawian whom they loaned to Ferroviaro de Nampula last season.

“There is no transfer fee attached to the agreement. My signing-on fee is a private matter, but Liga gave the responsibilities they had on me to Maxaquene. I did all the negotiations and I had no witness,” the former MTL Wanderers player wrote in reply to a Nation on Sunday questionnaire.

Another Malawian, Kenya-based Raquib ‘Lulu’ Milanzi also penned a year’s contract with Nairobi City Stars on Thursday after being released as a free agent by Tusker FC whom he joined for free early last year.

“They are not a bad side. They beat us last year and they have a new coach from Nigeria. It is a new challenge. At least, I will be getting more game time. I did not get a signing-on fee per say, just some 40 000 Kenyan Shillings to keep me going,” explained the attacking midfielder who last played for Civo United in the 2011/12 season.
