Nthemba CCAP Church in Blantyre has received K300 000 (US$750) from the Scottish Aberdeen Presbytery in the United Kingdom (UK) to fight hunger among needy members of the church.

Nthemba CCAP Church is in partnership with Aberdeen’s Stocket Hill congregation whose assistance has benefitted poor families in Malawi.

Last Sunday, the church distributed foodstuffs to needy members at a function that coincided with the inauguration of six members of the women guild.

Moderator of Nthemba CCAP Church Reverend Paul Mawaya asked members of his church to emulate the good example set by the Stocket Hill congregation by raising funds to feed the poor.

“Today, we are assisting 44 needy families with support from Stocket Hill of Aberdeen Presbytery and as Nthemba CCAP Church let us learn from our counterparts in Scotland,” said Mawaya.

Chairperson of the Social Welfare Committee at the church Hendry Chimwaza said distribution of the relief food items was a demonstration of God’s call to the local church to feed its poor members.
