In preparation for the forthcoming Presidential Women Football Championships, Blantyre-based Ntopwa Queens travel to Lilongwe this weekend for friendly games against DD Sunshine and Abromo Queens.

Super Queens finished fourth in the Southern Region Women Football League which is yet to wind-up while DD Sunshine Senior, DD Sunshine Youth and Abromo Queens finished as top three in that order in the Central Region. DD Sunshine Senior are also the national champions.

In a telephone interview on Tuesday, Ntopwa Super Queens sponsor and manager Isaac ‘Jomo’ Osman said he is already in Lilongwe making final arrangements for their week-long trip.

“I have already agreed with the owners of the Lilongwe teams and I am currently looking for accommodation for my players,” said Osman.

According to Super Queens coach Thom Kazembe, the friendly matches will boost his players’ standard of play before the start of the Presidential Championships.

“Lilongwe teams have a unique style of play. They are aggressive on attack and they have an excellent passing-and-supporting technique in the field. We will learn a lot from them and we are thankful to our sponsor for arranging the games,” he said.
