Speaking in an interview, Nycom chief executive officer Dingiswayo Jere said it is high time Malawians started empowering young people and that through the fund a lot, including job creation, can be achieved.

He said: “For any entrepreneur, having enough capital is paramount for a successful business. Through this fund, money will be raised by Malawians to support the youth who have great business ideas to have capital to achieve their dreams.

“In the long run, we will create more jobs through the businesses that will sprout from this fund and together we will create an economy where young people are giants.”

Jere said Mphande and Kell Kay were chosen due to their huge following on socia media  which will help in marketing the strategies of the fund to the youth and Malawians in general.

On his part, Kell Kay thanked Nycom for the opportunity of being the face of the initiative.

He said: “We will use all means to spread messages to the youth. They need to know how they can benefit from the fund and also how they too can make a difference in somebody’s life.”

In his remarks, Mphande said he has a job to help the youth to have hope that indeed resources can be sourced from individuals to make a difference.

According to Jere, the council targets one million young people within three months who can contribute K1000 each to reach a target of K1 billion.
