Harry Nyirenda sept28 | The Nation Online While several Malawian players have failed to extend their deals at South African top league side Black Leopards due to slump in form, defender Harry Nyirenda’s contract has been renewed.

In the recent past, Dave Banda, Grant Lungu, Fischer Kondowe and Bernard Harawa had their contracts terminated due to what the Limpopo-based side described as poor performance.

But Nyirenda has stood the heat at the club where he has been offered a new three-year contract. He said he was happy that after months of uncertainty, the issue has been sorted out.

“I am happy because I will now be able to concentrate on my game, especially coming at a time when the club had lost trust in a number of my compatriots,” said Nyirenda who joined Leopards from Mighty Wanderers in 2010.

In a related development, Leopards have again put on hold Wanderers defender Foster Namwela’s prospective move to the club.

Leopards director David Thidiela and the player’s manager Kondi Msungama confirmed the development, which they attributed to technicalities.

Thidiela said they could not take Namwela on board because they did not off-load any foreign player during the recent transfer window.
