The former MTL Wanderers captain has been an ever present figure in the team since joining it in 2010.

But he was dropped last week in the 4-0 loss to Platinum Stars and in the 2-1 beating of Ajax Cape Town on Tuesday night. Leopards have 23 points.

Last week, Nyirenda said the Leopards’ struggles were contributing to his dropping.

“The coach was trying other players, some of whom have not played this season in a bid to try and a get a result. In such cases, the coach may opt for taller defenders. But there is no problem with my performance specifically. I will be back in the squad,” said the defender.

Robert Ng’ambi at Stars and Limbikani Mzava of Bloemfontein Celtic are the only regulars out of the five Malawians playing in the PSL.
