Nyirenda’s Leopards contract ending

Harry Nyirenda’s three-year romance with Black Leopards ends this season and there are strong indications that the South Africa Premier Soccer League (PLS) side might keep him.

Nyirenda’s manager, Kondie Msungama, confirmed on Thursday that Leopards might retain the former Mighty Wanderers defender.

“Chances are high that Leopards might extend his contract. But we have to review his package as he has settled in South Africa. He is doing well and he is young. We are looking at options within the PSL,” Msungama said on Thursday

South Africa’s Soccer Laduma reported on Thursday that Leopards would hold on to Nyirenda alongside Mahlatse Maake, Raymond Monama, Tiyani Mabunda and Nkosiyabo Xakane.

“News reaching the Siya crew is that both Nyirenda (22) and Maake (26) have deals that span past the end of the 2012/13 campaign, and will therefore be staying with Lidoda Duvha for the foreseeable future,” www.soccerladuma.co.za  reads.

Nyirenda was in action on Wednesday, when Leopards were beaten 4-0 by Orlando Pirates.

Other Malawians in PSL are Robin Ngalande, Limbikani Mzava and Robert Ng’ambi of Wits University, Bloemfontein Celtic and Platinum Stars respectively.

Bloemfontein Celtic, who face Mamelodi Sundowns in Telkom Knockout final on Saturday, beat Golden Arrows 1-0, but Mzava could not play due to a reported knock.
