Having seen relegation rivals Jomo Cosmos grind out a 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates on Saturday, Tuks were in desperate need of points ahead of the second half of the season, and they got just that, holding on as Aces suffered only their third defeat of the campaign.

Nyondo connected home Thabiso Nkoana’s cross in the sixth minute to stun the visitors.

However, Nyondo was taken off stage in the 20th minute.

His compatriot Limbikani Mzava played a full game for Aces.

For UP, the win moves them up to 12 points, one behind Cosmos. Aces lose ground on Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns, who won their respective games this weekend. Aces are third with 30 points from 15 games—three points behind leaders Sundowns.

Robert Ng’ambi’s Platinum Stars beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1. Ng’ambi was introduced as a 75th minute substitute and engineered the first goal for Stars as they trailed 1-0. n
