Malawi national football team (Flames) striker is in line to claim the 2011/2012 SuperSport United Golden Boot Award set to be announced on Saturday.

SuperSport named the rest of the just-ended season awardees on Tuesday, but did not name the Golden Boot Award awaiting finals of the Nedbank Cup. They play Sundowns on Saturday.

Nyondo has been nominated for the award alongside strikers Ashley Hartog and Kermit Erasmus. They all have seven goals apiece.

Nyondo’s goals came in the PSL while Hartog had six league goals and one cup goal . Erasmus scored four in the league and three in cups.

“I am not thinking about that at the moment. I just want to win the cup and finish with a medal. Winning the top goalscorer award will just be a bonus. This is my first PSL season and getting such recognition is an achievement,” said Nyondo on Wednesday.

Six of Nyondo’s goals were scored last year and he scored one in the past four months as he struggled for game time.

He was a hot contender for the PSL top goalscorer award after scoring four goals in his first five league games and won the August/September Absa Premiership Player of the Month Award. However, he finished 10th on the scorers chart, 13 goals behind winner Siyabonga Nomvethe.
