Nyondo remains arrive home, burial today

A sombre mood engulfed Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe yesterday as hundreds of people welcomed the body of James Nyondo, who until his death was National Salvation Front (Nasaf) president.

Nyondo died last Thursday at Steve Biko Memorial Hospital in South Africa where he was scheduled to start receiving cancer treatment. According to his brother Fiskani, the deceased, who is survived by a wife and three children (a daughter and two sons), will be laid to rest today at Area 18 Cemetery in Lilongwe. Aged 47, Nyondo was one of the 12 presidential candidates during the May 2014 Tripartite Elections.
