OCC Cricket quarter-final list complete

Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) Grey beat Indian Sports Club (ISC) in just 15overs at Oriental Cricket Club (OCC) in Blantyre on Sunday to take the last quarter-final slot of the OCC 20-Overs Tournament.

ISC were the first to bat and they made 144 runs in the entire 20overs but in reply, Grey made those runs in just 15overs to effectively deny ISC a chance of making their first entry into the last-eight stage.

Grey has now joined MSC Silver, OCC, MSC Blue, MSC Gold Fattani, MSC Purple, MSC White and MSC Orange in the quarter-finals to be played at ISC and OCC next Sunday.

“We are relieved to have made it into the knockout stage,” said Grey’s captain Illyas Bhiku, whose team has managed to pluck two wins in four preliminary round games.

In other fixtures, MSC Brown earned their first-ever triumph against MSC Orange. The two sides tied at 94 runs each in 20-Overs, but Brown did it in the super over where they matched Orange’s score of four runs with only three balls.

At ISC, MSC White confined MSC Green to a thumping defeat. White made 152 runs in 20overs, thanks to individual brilliance of Majid Khan and Aarif Jada, who made 49 runs and claimed three wickets, respectively. In reply, Green made a paltry score of 57 runs all-out.

MSC Purple made 120 runs in just 12overs to trounce Gold Fattani, who laboured to make those runs in 20-Overs. Kamran Khan and Sehbaz Seikh contributed 55 runs and 45 runs, in that order, to help Purple win.

Nevertheless, despite their defeats, Orange, Green and Gold Fattani already qualified for the quarter-finals  .

Following the results, Silver face OCC on Sunday  in the first quarter-final at ISC thrn the stage will be set for Blue and Gold Fattanito battle it out At OCC, a last-eight tussle between Purple and Grey will precede an encounter involving Orange and White. n
