Barely a week after helping the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) to win the Capital City Lions Golf Tournament, retired army commander General Henry Odillo won the Standard Bank Monthly Mug at Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) on Sunday.
Mukeshi Vash was second while Zone VI golfer Victor Kachepatsonga finished third.

In the women’s category, it was Maria Lee Cho who came out tops. Regina Mwanza was nearest to the pin and had the longest drive
Odillo, who also won the nearest to the pin prize, was ecstatic in his victory speech.
“It was wonderful and exciting day. Thank God I won this tournament. I put a lot of dedication. I’m so pleased that I played extremely well, my best shot was on hole number four and from then on I was just on top of my game.

“I also won two clubs, so generally it was a good day. I thank Standard Bank for the wonderful tournament,” said Odillo
Head of information technology at Standard Bank, William Nuka, thanked the golfers for patronising the tournament in large numbers. He said the objective of the competition was to interact and share experience.

“This is a platform where we share with our customers most of whom are golfers on the new developments at the bank like our services and products. It is also an opportunity for the customers to share their experiences of our services. It is basically about interaction,” said Nuka.
LGC captain Justice Ken Manda expressed gratitude to Standard Bank for choosing the club to host their tournament.
