Old Mutual Malawi Group has challenged its staff to work towards achieving and bringing results to the group as is expected of them.

Group managing director Chris Kapanga said this in Blantyre when the group awarded outstanding sales agents from across the country.

“Old Mutual wants achievers and performers and if you don’t then this is not the place. Mind you, these awards are part of your performance appraisals,” Kapanga said, while stressing the need for teamwork and image building.

He saluted the awardees for what he described as outstanding performance at a time when the company was affected with the economic crisis.

Some of those who were awarded for their outstanding performance include overall winner Ann Chombo-Galloway for the highest contracts, risk components and retained contracts.

She also won the group managing director’s award. With the award, Galloway will travel to Dubai at the company’s expense.

Ellen Kaunda won the best new representative for bringing value to the group since her joining last year.

Spencer Maiden, who scooped almost all the awards last year at a similar event, was decorated with a special achievement award.

He described his achievement as motivating physically and professionally.

“I am happy to have won the award. I will continue working harder so that we defeat competition that is there in the market,” he said.

Kapanga disclosed that Old Mutual will this year start going into the mass market.

“Our focus will be the mass market. We are serious about this move,” Kapanga said.
