Fresh from newly-found fame following the release of a  single Solomoni, Onesimus has roped in South African award-winning artist Vusi Nova for his next song Maria.

In an interview, Onesimus, who has been focusing on taking his music globally by working with different artists in the rainbow nation, said the song celebrates a woman.

Working together: Onesmus and Vusi Nova

The song is relatable to the artist as the inspiration has roots from his time back in the days.

“It took me back to a love I had when I was much younger. The world should be ready for Maria in two weeks time. We were waiting for mastering and that has been finalised,” he said.

Onesmus said working with Vusi was more coincidental than planned.

“It was purely by accident. He came to the studio when I was recording the song. Vusi heard me working on the song and he insisted that he must be on it. His vocals flowed so nicely and it worked,” he said.

The artist said he knew Vusi a couple of years ago and has recorded a song with him before.

After Maria, Onesimus also plans to drop Ekhaya, his first song in isiZulu.

“It talks about home, missing and longing for home. I was in the studio with Mali Soul and he is Zulu. He assisted with the writing of the lyrics,” he said.

The musician said Ekhaya will drop right after Maria.

“I want people to enjoy this December. I have recorded many songs and planning on an album release but that will be communicated later,” said the musician.

Onesimus is currently enjoying attention from local music fans following the release of two songs Panadol and Solomoni.

“I am very happy with the response the two singles have received especially Solomoni which is also doing well in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Uganda, Botswana, Kenya and more,” he said.

As of Monday, Solomoni was number two in Zambia on the international charts.

In a promo video for Maria, the two are singing in both English and Chichewa.

Maria! Maria!, My sweetie, samala babe uponda minga iwe,” they sing in unison.

Vusi’s Chichewa is so effortless, leaving Malawian fans impressed.

The South African has since posted on his Instagram page about the song.

“South Africa x Malawi Maria loading,” he wrote to which most of his fans responded positively.
