Dedza Orange Partners recently donated 20 bags of cement and planks worth K150 000 (about $600) to communities in group village head (GVH) Kanyama, Traditional Authority (T/A) Kasumbu in Dedza South Constituency.

Communities around the area embarked on a project to construct a bridge at Makota on their own after noting that their subjects faced difficulties in accessing services at Makota Community Day Secondary School (CDSS), Extension Planning Area (EPA), Admarc and a health centre at Kanyama.

The communities mobilised themselves and contributed about K165 000 (about $660) for the project. They also collected sand and other materials.

But their efforts were in adequate, which prompted the People’s Party branch in the area to approach Dedza Orange Partners for help to complete the project.

Dedza Orange Partners, through its chairperson Patrick Chimulambe, sourced 20 bags of cement and the planks.

Speaking when he made the donation, Chimulambe praised the communities for their initiative saying their move reflects President Joyce Banda’s vision of giving power to the people.

He encouraged them to work hard and use the materials for the intended purpose.

On his part, GVH Kanyama thanked Dedza Orange Partners for the help.
