Flamboyant Nyasa Big Bullets supporter Isaac Jomo Osman has pulled out of tomorrow’s main supporters committee elections.

Osman had declared to challenge his successor Stone Mwamadi for the position of chairperson at the polls slated for Gymkhana Club in Zomba.

Going unopposed: Mwamadi

The development means incumbent chairperson Mwamadi is set to be ushered in unopposed.

Osman yesterday confirmed his eleventh hour withdrawal, saying: “Stone is like my brother, but on Monday we had a nasty tirade and I thought the situation was somehow going out of hand.

“So, after thorough consultations, I decided to pull out. If anything, I am ready to take up an advisory role.”

A member of the team’s electoral committee, Willy Phalula, yesterday also confirmed that Mwamadi has no challenger for the hot seat.

“In fact, he is the only one who is unopposed as per the final list of contestants,” he said.

However, the position of vice-chairperson will be a two-horse race between George Anderson and Bruno Gama.

The position of secretary is also expected to be hotly contested as it has attracted three aspirants incumbent Manze Chikoti, Mabvuto Chibambo, who is eyeing a comeback, and William Alubi.

The position of treasurer has attracted two contestants—Chingeni Gumbala and the incumbent Dave Matemba.

However, Phalula said those aspiring for positions will pay a non-refundable fee.

“Those aspiring for the position of chairperson will pay K100 000 while candidates for post of vice-chairperson will pay K75 000. The other aspirants for the rest of the positions will pay K50 000 each,” he said.

Phalula said the elections will start at 9am while the annual general meeting will be held shortly. n
