The Public Appointments Committee of Parliament (PAC) has approved the posting of former Chief Secretary to the Government George Mkondiwa as Malawi High Commissioner to India.
Sources within the committee yesterday confirmed to Weekend Nation that the 20-member committee was satisfied with Mkondiwa’s resume and experience.
On Wednesday this week, Mkondiwa appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament, which was scrutinising his credentials for the job.
President Peter Mutharika on December 19 last year appointed Mkondiwa as Malawi’s High Commissioner to India.
Chairperson of the committee, Lingson Belekanyama, yesterday refused to comment on Mkondiwa’s confirmation.
“I cannot comment on that matter, but if you may ask the Office of President and Cabinet (OPC) on the results of the recommendation from the committee as it is only office that can make it public,” said Belekamoyo. n
