Parliament has announced today that the Public Accounts Committee has summoned former finance minister Ken Lipenga, budget director Paul Mphwiyo to a hearing scheduled between 20 to 22 November.

Said Malawi Parliament publicist Ian Mwenye: “Be informed that the Public Accounts Committee is meeting from 20 – 22 November.

PAC members started meeting today.

Mwenye said the committee is meeting stakeholders on ‘cashgate scandal’ and meetings are taking place at Parliament Building from 9:30am.

Kampanje, former Budget Director, Paul Mphwiyo among others,” Mwenye said.

It is yet not known if Mphwiyo will appear before the committee as the former budget director is currently in South Africa recuperating from gun wounds.

  1. I suggest that Mpwiyo’s hospital bills should be paid using his own personal money. The government can no longer afford to keep him in RSA. After all, he has looted more than enough to pay for that. What’s his prognosis anyway? When is he coming back?

  2. Joseph Banda, PAC proposal should stand because IFMIS was initiated by Kampanje himself and he is better placed to explain how he effectively or defectively implemented it. Dorothy is innocent for sure.

  3. Angry malawian is supported. Indeed mphwiyo is now a liability, let him settle hospital bills himself. if he is able to speak pls let him narrate his side of the story, malawians should not be spectators while he spends our money in hospital after looting us of our billions of kwachas.
