Pact College, a private professional training institution, says it will continue raising the education bar to meet local and international demands of different professions.

The college’s board chairperson James Undi said this on Saturday in Blantyre during a graduation of 773 students from its Blantyre and Lilongwe campuses.

The graduates included 50 chartered accountants, seven chartered marketers and many others with diplomas and certificates in different disciplines.

Said Undi: “What we produce is of high quality and we do not compromise on standards. We will continue to raise the bar and push beyond limits so as to be in line with government’s development agenda. We can only develop as a nation if we have well-trained, dedicated and disciplined workers.”

He urged Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (Icam) to ensure their Certificate in Financial Accounting (Cifa) course remains strong and recognisable by employers.

Icam president Henry Chowawa, who was guest of honour at the event, agreed with Undi’s observation, saying: “It is only when we foresee the needs of the industry that we can ensure our courses remain competitive locally and even globally.”

Pact College is accredited by Technical Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education Training Authority of Malawi (Teveta). n
