Pakachere Institute of Health and Development Communication on Friday launched Wise Up, a talk show to be beamed on MBC Television.

Speaking during the event at Victoria Hotel in Blantyre, MBC director of programmes Hamilton Chimala, applauded Pakachere for the initiative saying MBC is proud to be associated with such a programme of quality.

“It is my hope that the investment Pakachere has made through production of the show, will help young people by influencing their behaviour,” said Chimala. He said the battle against HIV and Aids can be won by prioritising programmes that involve the young people.

“We need to understand that youth leadership in HIV prevention starts with them accessing right information that can help them make informed sexual and reproductive health decisions,” said Chimala.

Pakachere executive director Simon Sikwese said the programme has been produced to make sexual and reproductive health information accessible to young people and enable them to make informed choices.

“I hope the programme will inform and educate the youth in an entertaining way and create a platform for them to understand the world they are living in,” said Sikwese.

Adding spectacle to the event was a performance of the Wise Up theme song by hip hop artist Fredokiss featuring 4sight and Charlene, which wowed school children that were in attendance to call for cheers and dance.

The Movement Dance crew thrilled the audience with their masquerade dancing routine.

Wise Up

talk show is being hosted by Mercy Simbi and is beamed on MBC TV on Sundays. The first edition was on the channel on Monday.
