Mkhuzo: Christmas is about love

Walking in the footsteps of Joanna, Mary Magdalene and Dorcas who served Jesus with diligence, wives of pastors from various faiths Saturday last week revived the diminishing faith among the poor elderly in Chirimba, Blantyre.

It was not surprising, therefore, to see frail grannies jiggling and wiggling in response to the praise and worship hymns.

Coordinator of the Pastors’ Wives Association Jessie Mkhuzo said their visit to the elderly was part of the activities marking the birth of Jesus Christ.

Mkhuzo said the association noted that most of the elderly are struggling in their day-to-day lives; hence, the need to comfort them.

“We wanted to assure them that despite having nothing special for their Christmas festivities, life is the most treasured and basic wealth God has blessed them with. Christmas is not about feasting, but sharing love while giving praise and worship to God,” she said.

At the end of the service, the association donated gifts such as salt, sugar, maize flour, clothes and toiletries.
