Umodzi Park sales and marketing manager Temwa Kanjadza told Business News in Lilongwe this week that the complex is fully open with competitive special rates for the services. “We are now set to raise Malawi’s profile within the Africa conferencing industry, making Malawi an attractive option for conference delegations from within the continent as well as from the rest of the world,” she said.

Kanjadza said Malawi has unique tourist attractions, including Lake Malawi and a range of game reserves and national parks, adding that their investment will help to spur tourism drive within Malawi.

Asked to justify the rates on offer, Kanjadza said apart from low-priced beverages and alcoholics, Umodzi Park is also boasting of low priced services for conferencing and restaurant compared to other hotels in town.

She said the company has so far created over 130 jobs but said more will be created as time goes by.

The facility boasts of an auditorium, which seats 1 500 delegates and a variety of multi-purpose convention rooms, VIP boardroom, lounge and holding room.

President Peter Mutharika officially opened the 130-room The President’s Walmont Hotel on May 1 2015.

Peermont owns 13 casinos and hotel properties in South Africa, Botswana and Malawi.
