Nkhotakota Police station officer McDonald Khalira said the gadgets will enhance the protection of PWAs.

“Police is doing its best to ensure that PWAs live in a free environment and these gadgets will enhance their protection,” he said.

Malengachanzi commended government for the gadgets, saying they will help curb incidents of attacks on PWAs.

“PWAs experience numerous forms of violence. As such, the gadgets are important because people in my area will be alerted when PWAs need help,” he said.

A student with albinism at Nkhotakota LEA Primary School resource centre, Shafira Chapola said she will now learn without fear of being attacked.

Police officers are  currently orienting PWAs and their families on how to use the security gadgets. The security alarm system can be heard within a 100-metre radius.
