Photography is an art

Photography is an art. These days it is a common sight t see people hiring HD photographers to take pictures on special occasions such as weddings, graduation ceremonies and corporate functions. It is for this reason that Dazzle Media, a photography company has launched a project called African Goddess which seeks to expose the beauty of the African woman through photos. A participant of the African Goddess series

Q

: What is the African Goddess series?

A

: First let me introduce ourselves. We are Dazzle Media, a Lilongwe-based media company. We have introduced the a photo shoot series aimed at boosting the confidence of the African woman and self esteem called the African Goddess. Dubbed “African Goddess”, the series seeks to exposes how beautiful African women are, but shy or not proud at all to show African taste of fashion to the world.

As Dazzle Media we believe this photo shoot series is a better way of appreciating African culture and at the same time boost confidence in most women who think African style does not slay.

Q

: What will it take for women to participate in these photshoots?

A

: The African Goddess Series photoshoots are for free unless one wants to book for a private shoot and wants to feature. We have started with still photos before moving on to motion pictures.

For people to participate all they have to do is to follow us on Instagram @dazzle_media or Facebook @dazzlepht and express interest to take part. They will hear the rest from us.

Q: So far what else has Dazzle Media been involved in as far as fashion and photography is concerned?

A

: Dazzle Media has so far have worked with Glam and Glory International, Trucks and Car Breakers, Kaso Media , Qoncept Creative , TNM , Sahaj Computers, E’s classic, Petroda Malawi, Vision Fund,  Authentic cleaners, Malomo Youth Initiative and Youth Mindset Change. Q

: What are some of the challenges that the art of photography faces currently?

A

: Despite being good we have a problem of meeting clients who want good quality pictures for little pay. This tendency is the one that is killing photography industry in Malawi. We, therefore, appealed for mindset for the industry to thrive.

Q

: How are you then surviving in this situation?

A

: For an entrepreneur, it is always hard to survive. You need to be getting gigs back to back to that you are able to keep up with the hard economic conditions.. The thing that really affects us is the mindset of most of the Malawians. They want to get a very good service at a very minimal price which doesn’t go well for us.

Q

: What inspired you to start Dazzle Media?

A

: What inspired me to start Dazzle Media was that I saw how most of the youths are facing unemployment in the country right after graduating. I needed to come with a plan, I had passion for photography and other media related things then I thought to myself what if I turn this passion into something that can earn me a living and at the same time create jobs for other people.

Q

: So apart from this African Goddess series, what is Dazzle Media involved in?

A : Dazzle Media offers photography and videography services for weddings, corporate functions, documentaries, Birthday parties and many more.  The firm also provides social marketing services, artist management, event
