Afro rapper/singer, Piksy last week cancelled his trip to the United Kingdom (UK), where he was scheduled to perform over the weekend.

The artist was supposed to travel to the UK alongside gospel singer Mlaka Maliro. They were expected to perform at the Miss Malawi UK party in Birmingham last Saturday.

The two were still in Malawi on Friday for a show which was scheduled for the next day. Piksy said it was due to the delayed arrangements that he decided to cancel the trip.

“Until now they [organisers of the show] haven’t processed our visas and we’re yet to get travel arrangements, that’s why I thought of cancelling,” he said last week.

But speaking from Lilongwe, where he was waiting for communication on visas and travel, Mlaka said: “I’ve been told that they are collecting the visas today [Thursday] and possibly I’ll be travelling tomorrow [Friday].”

Mlaka did travel to the UK on Friday afternoon.

The trip was being facilitated by H&K Events, organisers of the Miss Malawi UK beauty pageant.

Speaking from UK, Henry Dokowe Ngwira of H&K Events confirmed there have been delays, while saying: “I am sure we will win in the end, will update you,” but he never did.

At the event, Piksy and Mlaka were expected to share the stage with Marco Sadik and Pop Dogg, Malawian artists who are based in the Netherlands and Ireland, respectively.

The Miss Malawi UK 2014 pageant saw 11 Malawian women, based in the United Kingdom, competing for the title.

The beauty pageant seeks at promoting Malawi’s tourism to the UK and the rest of the world.
