Providence Industrial Mission (PIM) youths from Phalombe, last Wednesday attended training aimed at equipping them with skills to take up leadership roles in the church.

In an interview after the training at Nkhulambe church, youth chairperson Aubrey Lisimba assured the church that they have the potential of serving it in various disciplines.

He said it was important to mould the youth into responsible and productive future leaders of the church and society.

“The focus of the training is to let the youth take up leadership roles for the church to bear good fruits. According to Proverbs 22:6, the Bible says, ‘train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it’,” said Lisimba.

He further said the Bible clearly tells people that iron sharpens iron and; therefore, one man sharpens another; hence, youth require information on how to carry out activities in the church.

“Our aim is to enlighten them with wisdom from God in order for them to live holy before Him. This will make them to love God and confess their sins. Proverbs 28:13 says: ‘He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy’. Therefore, God is merciful,” he said.

On his part, PIM Phalombe Church pastor, Rev Wyson Folokiya Phiri, challenged the youth to fully use the skills imparted to them for the benefit of their respective churches.

“It is good to discipline your son and he will give you rest, he will give delight to your heart (Proverbs 29:17). Therefore, I hope you will serve the Lord with faithfulness and dedication for the betterment of the church,” he said. n
