Players protest Ramadhan return

Nyasa Big Bullets executive committee found itself in a tight spot on Monday after some senior players protested coach Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan’s imminent return.

Ramadhan is supposed to resume work this week after completing his four-match suspension.

Ramadhan: I am sorry, I
have no comment

However, one of the senior players yesterday said they communicated to the executive committee about their reservations on the coach’s return.

“We were asked our views regarding the coach’s return, but most of us felt, as a team, we would be better off without him.

“This resolution was made at a players meeting and not only me or a few. You can even ask the GS [general secretary] or the main supporters committee chairperson; they are aware of the matter,” he said.

But while confirming the development, the club’s GS Albert Chigoga said the matter was still under discussion.

“This issue was indeed brought to our attention. Actually, their [players] representatives spoke to me on the same and they were serious about their stance.

“We have been discussing at executive level since morning, suffice to say that while players are the main stakeholders, they are just employees.

“Anyway, I wouldn’t want to comment further because this is an internal matter which is sensitive, but we will sort it out,” he said.

Ramadhan yesterday refused to comment on any issues relating to Bullets.

“If it is about an interview relating to Bullets then I am sorry Garry, I cannot comment anything,” he said.

The People’s Team suspended Ramadhan last month due to what they described as poor performance.

Chigoga then said Ramadhan was suspended to allow him “conduct some soul-searching regarding his performance”.

Before his suspension, the Burundian tactician had been given a five-game ultimatum to turn around the team’s fortunes or risk facing the sack from which he won three, drew one and lost the other.

Under his assistant Elia Kananji, Bullets have won three [including a friendly match against Silver Strikers], drawn one and lost one as well.

They are currently sixth in the 16-team TNM Super League table with 15 points from 10 games.
