Pleasant surprise

Listen to this article

Life has a way of sometimes sneaking up on you with pleasant surprises when you least expect them or a moment before they are due, which is exactly what happened to me this week. I had planned to commence my leave on August 31st when life happened; my fiance and I were blessed with a beautiful baby girl on Sunday, a week before she was expected to make her appearance. I will, therefore, be away on leave enjoying my little bundle of sunshine for the next three months and, during this time, Nation on Sunday section head, Cheu Mita, will be in charge of Every Woman. If you have any queries, clarifications, feedback or requests pertaining to Every Woman, please write to Cheu on cmita@mwnation.com. I will, however, keep writing Editor’s notes during my leave.

For feedback, ideas or clarifications on these, write to me on akossamphepo@yahoo.com as I might not be able to access my office e-mail account.

That said, the fashion industry in Malawi seems to have evolved from non-existent to formal, unimaginative and structured, afro inspired chic and finally beautiful, limitless designs which draw their inspiration from anything and everything.

Some of our young designers have already represented Malawi in international festivals and are putting our country on the global fashion map. We celebrate this growing trend in September by showcasing people that are moving mountains in the industry, starting with a cover on culture and arts activist and powerhouse, director of the Fame fashion show Zilanie Nyundo in this edition.

I wouldn’t miss any edition of Every Woman this month if I were you!
