Kalizang’oma: We are creating a distinct culture

According to Kalizang’oma, WHPF will be an annual gathering of poets, thinkers, innovators and other creative artists from Malawi and abroad.

“They will meet and perform in an interesting environment aimed at creating and promoting a distinct culture for global recognition through diverse qualitative and positive artistic display. It will be held every July, but in December we have the launch,” he said.

He said the festival seeks to promote patriotism and allegiance to the country’s cultural values, symbols, and pride, to unearth hidden talents, skills, creativity and innovations.

Among artists to perform at the inaugural affair, Kalizang’oma cited the three founders and poets Felix Nonjonjo Katsoka, Michael Benjala, Alfred Msadala, Likier Chikopa, Yankho Seunda and artists of other genres like Wamtali Savala Gogoda, Frank Naligonje aka Atcheya and Madalitso Nyambo. n
