Central West Region Police Commissioner Richard Luhanga has commended Lilongwe Police Station officers for enforcing public health guidelines in the city.

The commissioner said this yesterday during an inspection of officers at the station.

“You are always on the ground to ensure compliance of Covid-19 measures. At least people are now wearing face masks in public places and bars are operating within the stipulated time,” said Luhanga.

He called for teamwork among officers, saying it was a key strategy to good policing.

“We want to create a safe and secure Malawi. So, this will be achieved if we work as a team,” said Luhanga.

On his part, Lilongwe Police Station officer-in-charge Mabvuto M’bobo applauded the commissioner for encouraging junior police officers to work hard.

“We applaud the commissioner for motivating the officers to continue enforcing Covid-19 preventive measures,” he said.

Lilongwe Police Station has so far arrested hundreds of people who breached the public health guidelines meant to contain the further spread of the pandemic.
