Authorities at Police Secondary School in Zomba have bemoaned the poor state of boys’ hostels at the institution.

The school’s head teacher Foster Mwale was speaking in an interview on Saturday when the school’s alumni presented a photocopier and 80 desks worth K3 million (about $10 000) during a function held at the institution’s campus in the old capital.

Mwale described the donation as timely.

“We are very thankful for the donation because it has reduced some of the challenges the school face.

“But we also need assistance from well-wishers to rehabilitate the boys’ hostels which are in dilapidated state,” he said.

Chairperson for the alumni Willie Mwaluka said the items were given in the spirit of service that will define education excellence.

“To our beloved students, all we need from you is success that should take you to the university to further your education. To achieve this, you need to be disciplined. Each student must learn to set smart goals and aim high in order to succeed,” he said.

Alumni present included Director of Public Prosecutions Bruno Kalemba and High Court Judge Sylvester Kalembera.
