People’s Party (PP) has officially announced parliamentary candidates to be featured in seven constituencies in Machinga.

PP provincial chairperson for the Eastern Region, Samson Msosa, disclosed this during a development rally addressed by President Joyce Banda at Kawiriwita School in Senior Chief Nyambi’s area in Machinga North East.

“ PP will feature, Evans Kapito in Machinga South, Rabison Kaluwire, Machinga Likwenu; Martha Kabaisa, Machinga Central; and Janet Mambo Machinga Central East,” he said.

Former UDF parliamentarian, Wilson Ndomondo will represent the party in Machinga South East while Rodson Nakanga will feature in Machinga East.

Though PP’s Ajilu Kalitendere maintained that he was the rightful candidate for the party in Machinga North East Constituency, PP officially announced that Sharrif Mapasa will represent the party in the area.

UDF, the expected PP challenger in the region, has not yet held its primaries in the district.

All seven constituencies in Machinga are represented in Parliament by UDF, including Machinga North East which is currently represented by UDF presidential candidate, Atupele Muluzi

Banda called on the people in Machinga to support the party by voting for the PP candidate in May to ensure continued development.
