The People’s Party (PP) of President Joyce Banda has declared that it will be the best party in the country after the rough ride in primary elections that seem to divide it.
Banda’s special adviser on communication and politics Elias Wakuda Kamanga made the remarks at a news briefing in Blantyre on Tuesday, saying loser complaints are expected.
“It is a matter of time, we will be the best party in the country. PP is a young party as compared to others. Disagreements and frictions are expected in the process of growth. They are normal. They are there in every political party,” said Kamanga.
The PP family has in the recent past witnessed some divisions following the disputed primary elections in Karonga, Mzimba, Ntcheu, Rumphi, Mangochi and Zomba where some aspirants have challenged the results and the party has ordered reruns.
Among the hotly contested areas are Karonga Central, Rumphi East, Ntcheu West, and Zomba Central.
