People’s Progressive Movement (PPM) will today hold its convention at Comesa Hall in Blantyre to elect leaders in its preparation for the May 20 Tripartite Elections.

Director of publicity in the party Redson Munlo, who is contesting for secretary general, said he is ready to face the incumbent Wellington Chatepa.

Munlo said delegates across the country arrived Wednesday for the convention.

“All positions are up for grabs and the presidential position is expected to be contested by three people and among them is the incumbent Mark Katsonga, who has already presented his nominations to the convention chairperson.

“We are expecting 1 300 delegates to attend and vote. We have 45 positions to be filled with our national executive committee [NEC] of 90 members,” said Munlo.

Munlo then appealed to members to elect leaders that would take the party into government come May 20.

“In fact, we have already collected presidential nomination forms because the issue of alliance would be discussed and the delegates will have a final say on this,” he said.
