President Peter Mutharika installed Unima chancellor

Malawi President Peter Mutharika has been installed University of Malawi (Unima) Chancellor at a ceremony held in Zomba.

Unima installed Mutharika as its chancellor at the Great Hall during the 60th congregation of Unima.

Mutharika is the fifth chancellor after founding Head of State the late Hastings Kamuzu Banda, Bakili Muluzi, the late Bingu wa Mutharika and Joyce Banda to be chancellor of Unima.

Mutharika then awarded degrees and postgraduate diplomas to 397 graduates of the university, 231 (59 percent) of whom are male and 166 (41 percent) are female.
