The Presidential Cup final match between Big Bullets and Moyale Barracks played at Civo Stadium on Saturday raised K6 945 720, according to Football Association of Malawi (FAM).

FAM marketing manager and Presidential Cup organising committee chairperson Casper Jangale, expressed satisfaction with the revenue, saying it reflected the turn out.

“I have to thank the Fellowship Association of Malawi (Fama) for a professional job in manning the gates. I think Blantyre and Mzuzu should borrow a leaf. They did excellent work.

“As FAM, we are also thankful to the people of Lilongwe for the good patronage, they really love football,” said Jangale.

Bullets and Moyale and ground owners received K1 241 756 each. FAM got K266 000 while cashiers pocketed K466 000. Stewards and police received K175 000 and K49 000, respectively.

The game on Saturday drew a capacity crowd that had some fans standing packed in the sidewalks.

Bullets won their first cup in 10 years to take home K10 million whereas Moyale Barracks got K5 million. Bullets’ Gabadinho Mhango won a double in accolades; the Golden Boot Award and the tournament’s most outstanding player and received K60 000 in each category.

FAM has since appealed to Central Region fans to also patronise the international Under-17 match between Malawi and Botswana at Silver Stadium on Saturday.
