The organising committee has said the national draw of the K60 million (about $240 000) Presidential Cup will be held this morning at FAM’s Chiwembe Technical Centre offices in Limbe.
According to Football Association of Malawi (FAM) commercial and competitions manager Casper Jangale, last season’s top eight Super League teams will be seeded.
The eight teams are Silver Strikers, Escom United, Mighty Wanderers, Civo United, Moyale, Epac, Blantyre United and Blue Eagles.
“The draw will start at 9am and we are appealing to all Super League teams, the 17 teams that have qualified from the national play-offs, the media as well as the general public to come and witness the event,” said Jangalale.
However, Jangale hinted that the national phase of the tournament is likely to be affected by the next month’s Flames crammed diary that includes two 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and Nigeria as well as the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations against Chad.
Mighty Wanderers are the current Presidential Cup defending champions.
