However, lack of funds made her in receiving treatment until this month when gospel and secular musicians joined hands in holding a fundraising show for the musician.

In an interview from the Malawi Consulate House in Johannesburg, Chitsulo said she is doing very well and that life is going back to normal.

“It is very exciting to be remembered by people home. It is so refreshing and shows the value that people attach to me. The first treatment I received has led to tremendous change in me. What is remaining is further diagnosis by the doctor to ascertain whether I still need to have the operation or not, as a result of how I have responded to the treatment,” explained Chitsulo.

So far, the artist who was walking with the support of clutches, is now able to walk freely.

“I am able to do little things that I never used to like bending on my own and walking without clutches, two things I could not do in the past as I was losing balance. I am so relieved because I am able to see light at end of the tunnel,” said the artist.

She thanked fellow artists, Malawians and politicians as well as all those who took the part in supporting her trip.

“Thank you all people for taking the time to fundraise for me and make donations. I cannot find the right words to say. Inside me there’s great joy and I wish you could see how I am smiling right now. I feel life once more,” she said passionately.

Chitsulo is receiving treatment at Sunninghill Hospital in Johannesburg.
