In an interview on Monday, one of the senior project officials Wilson Tembo said Malawi Project sourced wheel chairs to help school children with disabilities.

He said, in the past, many children with disabilities were unable to go to school due to mobility challenges.

“In Mchinji 30 wheelchairs have been distributed to various schools. This is an on-going initiative and it will cover other districts as well,” he said.

Macoha Rehabilitation Officer Brenda Gausi hailed the church for the support to students with disabilities whom she said, face many challenges such as school fees, apart from mobility.

She appealed for more support from well-wishers in the country.

According to Mchinji District Council spokesperson, Sarah Munthali Mchinji has 694 school- going children with disabilities.

Munthali said the district is experiencing high school dropout rate among children with disabilities due to lack of parental support and lack of residential schools to cater for all categories of children with disabilities; hence, the call for support.
